How to use the Spelling Bee helper
- Type the letter in the middle of the honeycomb as the center letter.
- Type the six surrounding letters in any order. All seven letters must be different.
- Press Find words or Enter. The first search downloads the word list once; after that, new letter sets are solved instantly.
- Read the results from the top: pangrams come first and are highlighted, then words from longest to shortest, each with its point value.
How to play Spelling Bee
The puzzle shows seven letters in a honeycomb, one of them in the middle. You score by typing words made only from those letters. The rules are short:
- Every word must include the center letter.
- Words must be at least four letters long.
- Letters can be used again, so a word may be longer than seven letters.
- A four-letter word is worth 1 point; longer words are worth one point per letter.
- A pangram, which uses all seven letters, earns 7 extra points.
The solver shows these points next to each word so you can see where the big scores are hiding. It does not know the puzzle's own word list, so its total will not match the game's maximum score.
Pangram finder: spotting the seven-letter words
Pangrams are worth the most and are often the hardest to see. Take the letters C, M, P, U, T, E with O in the center. The solver finds 73 words, and two of them use every letter: OUTCOMPETE and COMPUTE. Ordinary finds include COMET, COMMUTE, COMPOTE, OUTCOME. A good habit is to look for common endings such as -ING, -ED or -ER among the seven letters, because many long words are built on them.
How the solver checks each word
For every word in the list, the spelling bee word finder runs three quick tests: is it at least four letters long, does it contain the center letter, and is every letter one of the seven you entered? A word that passes all three is a valid answer under the rules, and if its letters cover all seven, it is a pangram. Points are added from the length, plus the pangram bonus.
The word list is ENABLE, a large public-domain list made for word games, with slurs and the strongest profanity removed. The daily puzzle uses its own word list, which differs from ENABLE, so treat the results as suggestions: an unusual word here may be rejected, and now and then the game may accept a word this list lacks.
Using a solver without spoiling the puzzle
Plenty of players see a bee solver as a spelling bee cheat, and during the day it can be. If you only want a nudge, enter the letters and look at the length groups or the pangram count before reading the words themselves. Many people solve on their own first and use the list afterwards to learn words they missed. For other daily word games, try the Letter Boxed solver or the Wordle solver.
