Word Hunt Solver

This Word Hunt solver takes the 16 letters of a 4x4 board and lists every word you can swipe through neighbouring tiles, longest words first. It runs in your browser, so there is no app to install and nothing to sign up for.

Letters, row by row

Typing moves to the next square; arrow keys move around. You can also paste all letters at once.

Type the letters, then press Find words. Words need at least 3 letters.

How do you find words in Word Hunt?

In Word Hunt you find words by swiping through letters that touch, including diagonally, using each tile at most once per word. The fastest way to see every option is to enter the board here: the solver traces all paths and returns each word of three letters or more, with the longest at the top, since longer words are worth more points.

How to use the 4x4 Word Hunt solver

  1. Type the board row by row, from the top left tile to the bottom right. Each letter moves you to the next tile.
  2. Fix mistakes with the arrow keys or Backspace, or paste all 16 letters at once, for example TAPESORNLIDECUMB.
  3. Press Find words or Enter. The first search loads the word list, then every new board is solved almost instantly.
  4. Start with the longest group. Select a word to see its path, numbered tile by tile, so you can swipe it without hunting for it.

Word Hunt rules the solver follows

  • The board is a 4x4 grid of 16 letter tiles.
  • A word is a chain of touching tiles: left, right, up, down or any of the four diagonals.
  • A tile can be used only once in the same word.
  • Words must have at least 3 letters.
  • Longer words earn more points than shorter ones.

Word Hunt is one of the games in GamePigeon for iMessage. This page is an independent word hunt puzzle solver and is not connected to GamePigeon; it only uses the same board rules.

How the solver finds every word

The solver first keeps only dictionary words that can be spelled with the 16 letters on the board. It loads them into a prefix tree, then starts a search from each tile, stepping to every unused neighbour and extending the path one letter at a time. A path is dropped the moment its letters stop matching the beginning of any word, which is why even a dense board takes well under a second. Every complete word is saved with the path that spells it, and the final list is sorted by length, then alphabetically.

Example board

With the rows TAPE / SORN / LIDE / CUMB, the solver finds 380 words. 8 of them have 8 letters, including DULCIMER, PARODIST, STOLIDER, while 80 are three-letter words. If you are short on time, the longest group is where the points are; the short words are worth sweeping up only after the long ones are done.

Tips for a higher score

  • Look for common endings such as -ED, -ER, -ING and -S near the corners; they turn short words into longer ones.
  • Plurals and verb forms are separate entries in the word list, so after finding a word, check whether an S or ED touches its last tile.
  • The word list here is ENABLE, which is not the game's own dictionary. If the game rejects a word, move on to the next one in the list.

For grids of other sizes, or grids with gaps, use the Squaredle solver.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Word Hunt solver find words?

It traces every path through touching tiles on the 4x4 board, including diagonals, and keeps each path that spells a word of three or more letters in the ENABLE word list. A tile is never used twice in one word, which matches how swiping works in the game.

Does it work for 4x4 GamePigeon grids?

Yes. The solver is built for the 4x4 board used by Word Hunt in GamePigeon: type the 16 letters row by row and it lists every word it can trace. It is an independent web page, not made by or affiliated with GamePigeon.

Which words score the most?

Longer words score the most, so the solver lists the longest words first. Word Hunt gives more points the longer a word is; this page does not show exact point values, so use word length as your guide.
